Information About Superbills
A superbill is an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. This can help offset out-of-pocket costs.
How to submit a superbill:
Check with your Insurance
Some plans accept out-of-network providers, and some don't. If you have a PPO insurance plan, it is likely that insurance will reimburse you at least some of the session, but check with your plan to know for sure and see how much, and if there are any restrictions (like benefit limits or allowed amounts).
Get Superbill from Provider
Ask your provider (that would be me!) for a superbill: this can be sent monthly and includes dates, fees, and diagnosis/procedure codes.
Send to Insurance Company
You can usually upload the document to your portal, mailing it, or faxing it. Insurance will send a reimbursement, usually within weeks or a couple of months.
Keep Documents and Receipts
Make sure to keep the documents and receipts of payment for your records.
The Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP)
The Victims Compensation Assistance Program, or VCAP, is a specific fund designed to help people who have suffered physical, emotional, or financial harm due to a crime committed in Pennsylvania. This fund can pay for counseling.
If you have experienced sexual trauma, VCAP support is available whether or not the crime was reported to law enforcement.
Some specific time limits and eligibility requirements apply, please contact me and/or or visit the PA Office of Victim Services for more information.
